Global Money Week 2024

Global Money Week (GMW) is an annual global awareness-raising campaign on the importance of ensuring that young people, from an early age, are financially aware, and are gradually acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve financial well-being and financial resilience.

The 12th edition of GMW will take place on 18-24 March 2024. What does the CFF prepared for GMW 2024?

On March 18th at 7:00 PM, a free training session will take place on the CFF Facebook platform (live stream) for teachers and parents, titled: “Financial Basics for the Youngest: How to spark interest in finances and saving among children.” The session will be led by Damian Kupczyk, President of the Czepczyński Family Foundation, who has been conducting training and workshops related to economics and finance for over 9 years. This debate will be held in Polish.

What issues will be discussed?

  • The importance of starting financial education at an early age
  • Basic financial concepts suitable for preschool and early elementary age
  • Techniques to engage children in conversations about money and saving
  • Examples of how to use shopping, household budget, or other daily situations for financial education
  • How to talk to children about money in an understandable and motivating way, adapting communication to the child’s age.

 

After the meeting teachers will be able to receive a free of charge certificate.

Online debate on financial education of children and youth

Czepczyński Family Foundation is organising an international online debate on “Financial education of children in Europe – best practices and challenges”. This event will be broadcasted on 19th March 2024, 10:00-12:00 CET on YouTube.

This debate will be an opportunity to hear from: Thomas Montcourrier (OECD), Marie-Veronique Bryon (Finances & Pedagogie, France), Tiziana dell’Orto (EY Foundation Ente Filantropico T.S., Italy), Tova Larsson (Ung Privatekonomi, Sweden), Frank Norbeck (Ungt Entreprenørskap Norge, Norway), Paweł Kaczmarczyk (Czepczyński Family Foundation, Poland), Viktoria Rolik, (National Bank of Ukraine), Arja Krauchenberg (European Parents’ Association).

The discussion will be moderated by Margareta Przybyła, member of Czepczyński Family Foundation international team.

Guiding questions for the discussion:

  • Is financial education included into curriculum in the respective countries, if yes from what age? Do European country have national strategies for financial education? How and what children and youth are being thought?
  • What kind of initiatives are taken by the organizations in the remit of financial education? Best practice examples.
  • What are the biggest challenges when it comes to financial education of children and youth in European countries, what can be done at EU level?

Contest for the youngest – “Saving with style”

The final point on the CFF offer for GMW 2024 is a contest for primary school students (grades 1-3) and kindergartens. Teachers are invited to conduct a financial education lesson while using materials provided by CFF. Children, supported by teachers, are invited to make a short video summarizing the lesson and skills they have acquired.

We have prepared great prizes for the winners, including equipping the winning school/ institution with an educational package “ABC of Economics” and organizing a meeting with a special guest. Participating in CFF events doesn’t mean you’re automatically registered for GMW. To register schools, educational institutions, and public libraries for the GMW campaign in Poland, please use the form on www.knf.gov.pl and find the Participation Rules there.
